Let’s Get Moving Tip – Use a Timer

We all know that daily movement is important for our overall health.  But knowing it, and actually doing it, are two entirely different things.  So how do we get our bodies moving, when we have so many conveniences aimed at (making our lives easier) making sure we don’t HAVE to move?

Long days at work, long commutes, drive thru food available 24 hours a day …  we don’t even have to get up and walk to get that food that we probably should not be eating anyway.  We can have it delivered right to our door.

Let’s Get Moving Tip … Create Routines

We all have daily routines.  Some may be similar to what others do, while others may be unique to us.

Let’s think of a few that most of us do automatically.  Using the bathroom upon waking.  Seems silly to mention it but it is a routine thing we do, none the less.

Let’s Get Moving Tip – Dealing with a Setback

How do you deal with a setback in your life?  Do you have the determination to keep going?  Do you give up, feeling it will never work anyway?  Or do you find yourself somewhere in between?

For our purposes here, let’s just talk about setbacks in relation to improving our health, increasing our movement and in turn, having positive results in reaching our goals.

I have spoken many times about my love (obsession) for my Fitbit One Wireless Activity Plus Sleep Tracker, Black""” data-wplink-url-error=”true” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Fitbit One.  For me, it’s been a fabulous way to track movement and keep me motivated.  But, even with a tool like this, there can be setbacks.  For many months I’ve not reached my minimum daily step goal, and in turn have not hit my desired goal.  So what do I do when things like this happen?

Let’s Get Moving Tip – Hydrate

"WaterBottle | stephsneckofthewoods.com"We all know that we need to hydrate.  Some people don’t like water and choose other beverages.  I myself LOVE water.  Pure, fresh, reversed osmosis water, and a lot of it per day.  I prefer to drink from glass and this is my favorite bottle.  I have multiple. 

Whatever beverage you choose, be sure to hydrate often and be sure you are getting enough fluids.

Let’s Get Moving Tip … Wintertime

"SnowShovel | stephsneckofthewoods.com"For those of us who live in snowy areas, we find it challenging to get outside and engage in regular walking and other outside exercise on a regular basis.  We all do have opportunities for movement during the winter though.  Yes, I am talking about shoveling snow.  I found out one past winter, that although shoveling did provide an opportunity for lots of movement and a fabulous arm workout, it did not register many Fitbit steps.
